Lippert's 3D pontoon furniture configurator lets a boat owner rebuild their own deck on screen, place one of four Rockport furniture kits on it and send the finished layout to the cart on Lippert.com. Vivid 3D built the 3D furniture models, the parametric deck that resizes to each boat and the hand-off of the finished layout to the Lippert.com cart, and hosts the configurator on its platform.

Case type: client project. Client: Lippert. Industry: marine and outdoor. Use case: 3D product configurator for aftermarket furniture. Pipeline used: 3D asset creation, asset management, 3D configurator and viewer, rendering and publishing.
Lippert makes components for RVs, boats and other outdoor vehicles and sells replacement parts straight to owners on Lippert.com and through retailers such as Overton's and Camping World. Pontoon furniture is one of its aftermarket lines. The Rockport series is modular: bench seats, captain's chairs, corner seats, chaises, a helm stand and a flip-flop seat, each sold as a separate piece.
A replacement bench looks simple on a product page. On the boat it has to fit between the rails, leave the gate clear, follow the shape of the corners and line up with the seats that stay. A few inches decide whether a corner seat fits or blocks the walkway.
Until now, most of that planning happened on paper or in the owner's head. Lippert had tried to move it online before: in 2017 it launched a Platinum pontoon furniture configurator, a top-down floor plan where users dragged and rotated furniture icons on a scaled outline of their boat. It answered whether the pieces fit. It could not show what the finished pontoon would look like with real colors and upholstery.
The new tool keeps the idea of fitting furniture to a real boat and moves it into a 3D scene the owner can rotate and zoom. It follows the three steps Lippert describes on its pontoon customization page.
The owner enters deck length and width, fence length and width and the front rail offset, then picks square or 30-inch rounded corners. Rail color (8 options) and flooring color (4 options) come next. The 3D deck redraws after every change, so the model on screen matches the boat that was just measured, whether it is a 14-foot runabout or a 25-foot-plus pontoon.

Furniture comes as four Rockport kits (Lounger, Cruiser, Voyager and Explorer) in two upholstery colors. A kit lands on the deck at scale, so the owner sees right away whether the seating leaves a walkway and clears the gate. Cup holders, a Power Bimini top and a SureStep boarding ladder can be added on top.
The total updates with each choice. Switching from the Lounger kit to the Cruiser kit moved it from $2,059.80 to $4,139.55, and the owner sees that difference before anything is in the cart. Owners who only need a seat or two can replace individual Rockport pieces instead of the whole interior.
The summary lists every piece in the layout. Add to Cart passes the whole configuration to the Lippert.com cart, so nobody has to find and add each SKU by hand. AR and measuring buttons in the scene let the owner check the result on a phone while standing next to the boat.
For a DIY owner, the layout they design is the layout they install. Lippert states the furniture goes in with common hand tools. Owners who prefer a professional can take the same configuration to an installer found through Lippert's dealer locator, which saves a round of explaining what they want.
For Lippert, one set of 3D assets covers every combination. Four kits, two upholstery colors, eight rail colors and four flooring colors already give 256 deck variants before any size change, and none of them needs its own photo shoot. When Lippert adds a seat or a new upholstery color, Vivid 3D adds one model or one material to the asset library and it appears in every kit that uses it. Lippert uses the same approach for its Furrion awning builder, where buyers choose size, fabric, frame color and lighting.
Lippert has not published performance data for the configurator, so this case study quotes no conversion or revenue figures. These are the numbers that will show whether a 3D configurator pays off in marine aftermarket sales:
A pontoon furniture configurator is an online tool where a boat owner enters the size of their deck and fence, places seats and accessories on a scaled model and sees the price of the layout. Lippert's version shows the result in 3D and sends the full layout to the cart.
Measure the inside of the fence, port to starboard and bow to stern, rather than the outer deck. Note where the gates are, whether the corners are square or rounded and where rail braces sit, because these limit which pieces fit.
Yes. Lippert says its pontoon furniture installs with common hand tools. If you would rather not do it yourself, its dealer locator lists installers.
Yes. Rockport is modular, so you can add, remove or replace individual pieces and keep the rest of your current layout.
